Our son has lived within the Guidewire community for over thirteen years and is doing better than any of us ever imagined. Guidewire developed an individual support plan addressing our son’s needs and it has been very successful. He has made incredible strides, developing coping skills to help him manage his anxiety. He is now able to participate in activities in many different social settings successfully, and even looks forward to going away on vacation to the Cape annually. The Guidewire community is staffed with amazing individuals who are committed to improving the lives of a very special group of people like our son. Our personal experience has been nothing short of a miracle.
The person for whom I am guardian has been with his Guidewire residential program for several years now. I have found the residential manager of his program to be extremely attentive to his needs and very responsive to me when I call or make inquiries. My son has been a part of Guidewire for 20 years. Nothing is like home, but this was the next best thing for our son to help him become more independent. He works, competes in many Special Olympics sports, and does activities with his staff. We have been fortunate to have the same dedicated staff for many years. Communication is essential to us, and this has never been an issue. He has the best of both worlds doing “home” visits and living with his peers and staff!
